How to get a Ptor

Congrats on making Aliyah! In order to get your Ptor you need to go to the Rabbanut with your Teudat Zehut; Am Veolamo St 4, Jerusalem (Open Sun- Thurs 8:30-13:30, phone number is *5889).

When you get there explain to them that you are here to get a Ptor (exemption) from the army because you are religious. They will probably ask you if you keep Shabbat and Kashrut, and maybe a few other simple questions, and then they will stamp your Hatzharah (declaration). Make sure to bring 2 passport pictures. There is a 45 NIS processing fee (can only be paid by Israeli credit card).

Send an email with your Teudat Zehut number to Ori Lone Bnot Sherut, they will get back to you when your “tik” has been opened in the Army system.

Once you get confirmation from Ori your next step is to take your Hatzharah to Lishkat Hagiyus (recruitment office): Rashi St 103, Jerusalem. When you get there, tell them that you are here to get your Ptor from the army because you are religious. It is likely that they will also ask you questions. Once they have processed your request, make sure to give them a reliable address to send the official Ptor to you, it may take over a month to get it.

Wait for your Ptor to arrive in the mail! Once it arrives you will need to present it to you Rakezet.
